Recruitment day n a lesson learnt...

Today is the 2nd day of the sec 1 orientation as well as the CCA recruitment day... we reached skool at ard 0730h n started to set up our booth, which is the physics lab(morning class by class visit) n the circle of success(afternoon free roaming)...

The things were set up pretty quickly n at ard ten, the circle of success is ready... but after reviewing, a few more things were decided to be added... n all completed at ard 11.30 n we all go for lunch... then at 1230h, everyone was ready in their full uniform... n the cadets were briefed by the NCOs n the uniform were checked... finally, the sec 1s came down n the action began... everyone(i hope) did their part in explaining to the sec 1s abt NPCC... i walked ard taking photos of cadets interacting with the sec 1s... from wad i see, it is quite successful n that we had names taken down... there were also some which were very keen in joining the corps... at the end of the free roaming session, we packed up the place n decreased our booth size to 2 tables... then we went for dinner... at ard 6pm, cadets were dispatched to do road marshalling while others were to stand at the booth n talk to the parents abt NPCC... soon, it all ended n everyone cleared up the place... i was with the cadets doing marshalling... checking n making sure that they r safe as the road is dangerous especially on a night as such...

Well, i haf a learnt a lesson today... from the incident which happened, i realised that everyone have their pride... especially NCOs... i believe that NCOs shldn't be humiliated individually in front of cadets... even if we r angry, we shld at least pull the NCO some where else... if not, we could risk losing NCOs instead of training them to become better ppl... basically, as leaders, we haf to be sensitive of the feelings of our followers...

ZoOm...

Once again, we r at the end of the year... I dunno abt u guys, but this has been a very fast year for me... there is hardly any time for me to actually get a full picture of wads going on... perhaps one reason is that this is my 'O' level year... i remember ms wong registering me for the exam in march like it happened 2 days ago n b4 i noe it, i m sitting for the exam which seemed like yesterday...

In this year, i noe that many mistakes were made n things may be done in a way where ppl may not like... but it is all part of the learning porcess where one grow... I have learnt that in everything which i do, i haf to seek the opinions of those which would be affected... so as to ensure that everyone is happy... this would further ensure a successful event...

In this year, i haf also experienced many many things... some happy ones may include things like the festivals, passing my PT test, moulding a batch of newbies n achieving things together as a whole such as the heritage badge... of course when there r happy memories, there would be unhappy memories... such include some conflicts which may occur along the way, having to step down in April n the weakening of strong bonds which we once haf... the first class drill batch was also quite an episode in my life(i threw it in the canal when i got it cause i can't wear it... but i bought a new one when i m starting to pass PT)... these things, good or bad, will remain with me forever... they would be my textbooks of life lessons...

Now with a new year approaching... it is good to be forward looking... however, one muz remember at all times the lessons learnt... so as not to make the same mistake n grow along the way... before i end, i would like to wish everyone a happy new year...

No rest...

ARGH~!!! wad a 'wonderful' holiday i m having now... let me briefly tell me abt wad i haf been doing for november n december...

For november, i haf been busy with my 'o's... cause as u all noe, my exam is in november... immediately after it ends, i started to help out n prepare for the skool open hse... after the open hse, i had to help out with the .22 revolver dry pract... basically thats it for november larz... for december, the first week i was at ngee ann poly with this one week course... then second week, which is last week, i started to help out with the recruitment campaign... for this week, the third week, recruitment mtgs on monday n tuesday n thursday... going down to see first class practical on wednesday... then friday sat n sunday is free... but next monday, the last week of december holidays, i haf to do somethings on monday... tuesday, wednesday n thursday r recruitment meetings n the recruitment day itself... then friday may haf a bbq to celebrate or rather welcome the new year... then on sat n sun got to prepare to go back to skool le... So basically, no holiday...

Talking abt school reopening, i haf been sent to innova junior college for the first three months of my jc life... it is located at woodlands, next to the sports skool.... i m not excited abt going there for one thing that puts me off it the travelling time... next, the skool is still under construction... so i wonder how i m suppose to study... neway, wish me all the luck... :)

Chalet at Sentosa!!

Yeah~!!! i had a wonderful time at sentosa island yesterday for the nco warriors chalet... i met up with wei jie n zi yuan at wei jie's hse to get the drinks ready in the styroform boxes... we also packed everything nicely into 3 boxes... we loaded the stuff onto a taxi n went to harbour front bus interchange to wait for the rest... we waited for abt half an hour n the rest of the nco warriors arrived... we then boarded the bus to sentosa...

Upon arrival at sentosa, we paid for our entry tickets n took the sentosa bus service to our holiday chalet... we then cleaned the chalet n stored our food into the fridge... we then went down to the beach for beach soccer n ended up in the sea instead... we formed a circle n played monkey with a volleyball which i found... n soon, it was time to go up n set the fire for the BBQ at night.... the BBQ ended at ard ten as we all decide to go out by then... we went to Paradiz Plaza to play pool to ard 1.30am... we then returned to sentosa... some of us went to the beach, others started to play majiong, dai dee, black jack n poker... this went on throughout the whole night...

I left at ard 7am as i suddenly had a slight fever... so sorry guys for not helping with the cleaning up... in the end, i believe that we all had a great time at sentosa...

Recruitment meeting...

I went to skool today for recruitment meeting which starts at noon today... however i reached at ard ten to repair a banner as well as to look up for something in the directive... unfortunately, i couldn't find the directive in the NPCC room... then i waited a while n went for lunch with teck wei... then we got back for the recruitment meeting... the mtg was rather fruitful as i see it... cause at least 90% of the things that r supposed to be done today r done...

After the recruitment meeting today, there is a change in my mindset n attitude i used to haf towards the current batch of NCOs... it is true that they r not very well disciplined n that they r not exactly very efficient as well... but thats the reason for the presence of the TOs, CIs n Is... However, it is also true that they r relatively hardworking...

My CI once told me the reason y he is still doing things for this batch of ppl... n that is he sees the potential of some of them n hope to train them to greater heights... thus i shall also do the same... afterall, the mission of NPCC is to develop cadets into caring n responsible citizens...

Jurong Island!!

Thanks to the one week engineering course in nee ann poly, i got a chance to visit Jurong Island today...

We assembled in skool today at ard nine in the morning n boarded the bus to Jurong Island... upon reaching, we had to surrender our IC for security clearance... we were then given a sticker to paste on our shirts to indicate that we r cleared... the bus drove us ard the island n look at all the companies present on the island... we saw many storage tanks of shapes n sizes on the island... thanks to paying attention in class, i managed to recognised some of the chemical names printed on the tanks... we were then brought to the JTC building to see the chem gallery... we were guilded through the gallery n looked at the things happening in the plants on the island... we also learnt that JTC had kept the place a very nice place so as to attract other foreign investors... all in all, its a very nice place except for the air which contained a smell of petroleum...

The one week course also allowed me to meet new friends n know the polytechnic much better... thanks titus for asking me to go...

Annual Campfire 2004

Juz got back from skool after the campfire... was actually rather disgusted but i guess i haf high expectations... neway... was supposed to meet at clementi mac at 7pm... in the end only a few turn up.. then some went to skool straight... neway was almost late... lolx...

Looking at the NCOs n the cadets on this very night, brought me back to the days when i was an NCO myself... the days whereby scoldings were endless but now remembered as the learning part of my life... neway, back to tonight... well, although the singing is rather messy... n that the songs weren't continuous... i was kind of hoping that the song leaders would start the next song as soon as the previous one end... oh well, all in all, at least we finish the songs... then came the buffet... the food is ok i guess... this time ordered from outside... not bad... but spent my time with the cadets... talk here talk there... grp after grp... lolx... but still, all good things always come to an end... so we had to leave..

The others all wanted to go out n play... n not return home for the night... however, i had to leave... cause i haf this one week chemical engineering course at Nee Ann Poly starting tml... sianz... monday to friday... 9am to 6pm... so guys, u noe y i can't go out... ya?
